Getttin' Jacked!

We are prepping all our gear and getting ready to go on the Texas hunt!  Just checked the San Antonio forecast (for those of you from NH not going, you don't want to know) looks great and we are excited.  I know the students are really going to enjoy themselves and gain a respect for the outdoors.

Thanks Dave Kenney and all the sponsors for making this happen!  - Jay and Jake

Nearly there!

Nearly time to jet off to Texas!  Dave is firing out e-mails with last minute reminders and organizational issues.  Final Exams for the winter semester are underway, so the boys are busy with academic pursuits until tomorrow afternoon.  PA is loaning us a wireless hotspot to take on the trip.  I had a hard time figuring our for sure, but I think we'll have a signal to grab while on site at the ranch.  I wonder if the old aluminum foil on the antenna trick works?  Maybe not.  In any event, the plan is to turn the blog over to the boys starting Friday, and we'll find a way to get the posts on-line.  Thanks for following along so far.

What is the weather in Texas?

Here in New Hampshire we're mostly finished clearing snow from Winter Storm Q over the weekend.  Winter Storm Rocky is inbound from the Central Plains.  What is the weather that we can expect for our trip?  The link below provides a long range forecast for Nixon, Texas where the ranch is located.  It looks like we're going to need our warm fleece early in the morning and sunblock during the day.  Pack accordingly!

Friday Night At the Indoor Range

The team gathers for our last practice before the hunt. Pizza from Charlie Macs. There was fun to be had by everyone. Except the pigs.

Dave leads the way.

Tim preps his bow for his battle with the foam animals.

Kyle removes his arrows from the target.

Connor is playing basketball so there is room for Linnea at the line.

This pig died an honorable death.

Kyle, Tim and John discussing equipment with Jordan.

Jordan is right, Tim needs a new bow!

The team pulls arrows for the last time of the night.

Team Practice tongiht

Looking forward to practice tonight at Pioneer Sportsman, Inc in Dunbarton, NH.  Pioneer is one of the numerous clubs and businesses that works with PA Field & Stream to help provide a quality program to the students.  Thanks also G-Mac Archery Products in Canterbury NH, Morse Sporting Goods in Hillsborough NH and Elkins Fish & Game Club in Wilmot NH.

Can't wait to sign off the computer this afternoon and go shoot the foam!

Counting down to departure

Less than two weeks to departure from the cold Northeast to Texas for the first PA Field & Stream Texas Hunt.  Flights are arranged, cars are rented, Cactus Creek Ranch is ready for our arrival.  Now if I can just get my co-workers to stop laughing when I tell them I'm going hog hunting with a bow and arrow.  I guess I need to work more camo into my wardrobe!  -  George
